| Short and sweet are two words that do not often fit into my vocabulary in the same sentence. I am passionate about the things I communicate about which often turns into a longer than necessary story or explanation. After all I want to share my excitement or the great information that I have. However; after another successful chapter meeting last week chock full of awesome information, chapter announcements and a fantastic presentation I realized that as a chapter we have so many wonderful things going on that one meeting a month is just not enough time to communicate it all.
I want to encourage each of you to tune into the various forms of communication that come from the DC Chapter of NACE as well as our National Headquarters. Your board works hard to put together a great newsletter, various email information campaigns, website updates, and our facebook and twitter pages all share a ton of great things that happening. Webinars, IdeaSwaps, Chapter Membership Specials, Community Service and Outreach, Monthly Meetings, New Members and Event Professional Spotlights can all be found on these outlets and each one is a member benefit.
I am thankful to have so many passionate and inspiring individuals in our organization that challenge our industry daily. Please let me know if there is ever anything you would like to communicate for your professional company or organization.

| The Community Service Committee would like to encourage NACE members to join us on May 6th from 11-2pm at the DC office of Operation Home Front (45975 Nokes Blvd. Ste 140 Sterling, VA) This is a wonderful volunteer opportunity for us to help sort and package donations, and write thank you notes to military Mom’s and female caregivers of wounded warriors. This volunteer opportunity will correspond with May being Military Appreciation Month and Mother’s Day. We are still in need of a caterer to provide lunch to help feed hungry volunteersJ
A big thank you to our members who have generously donated baby items for our NACE sponsored baby shower that will be held on September 26th. We will continue to collect baby items until August 20th. Our next volunteer opportunity will be in early September to bundle the collected items and distribute to new and expecting Mom’s at the baby shower. Please remember that the NACE member who makes the largest contribution of baby items will receive a free ticket to the DC NACE Gala to be held later this year.

| Hello NACE members! As was announced at the April Chapter meeting, we will be taking a different route this year by planning our current charity, Operation Homefront’s first Gala! This venture will bring many opportunities and will bring significant exposure for NACE. This will also be a great endeavor for all sponsors involved by showcasing what can be done visually through lighting, design, florals, and décor as well as production and entertainment. We are very excited about this partnership and will strive to make the Operation Homefront Gala a major success for the organization as well as the DC Chapter of NACE. We still need dedicates committee members to achieve this goal. We especially need help with Sponsorships. If you are interested in serving on the 2013 Fundraising/Gala committee please contact me at (202)312-1416.

| Hello DC NACE Members,
It’s wonderful to finally witness the arrival of spring in Washington D.C. The Cherry Blossoms arrived late, the warm weather waited until the last minute, and the trees are finally starting to look green again!
During the month of April, the DC NACE meeting featured Carla David (Carla David Design) as the Event Professional spotlight. Carla’s custom design company features a cutting edge, client-orientated approach to invitations and event details. Carla David Design provides the client with a sophisticated and inspired palette to create stunning invitations, labels, and destination wedding booklets. Carla David Design has an expansive client base that includes wedding, social events of all kinds, trade-shows, and corporate events.
During the April meeting, Carla also spoke about her recent series of education-based industry events, which are formulated to provide synergy between the client and the business owner/vendor. Carla David has proven herself to be a leader in the industry in the multitude of ways. Look out for her in the future!
Yours Truly,
Josh
