May is an exciting time for everyone. Business picks up, the gloomy landscape cheers up and people are just nicer in general. Last month I learned all the cool stuff that I can do with twitter! | I don't know about you all but I am getting very excited about NACE Experience! coming up in July. We are heading to New Orleans and other than the fact that it is going to be "hotter than hades" there are few things that I enjoy more than spending time in a place with such a strong sense of culture. I am looking forward to the fabulous cajun and Southern cuisine by some of the Nations best chefs, listening to live music that pours from the souls of people who produce it and of course being inspired by the sights and sounds and people that make up the culture that is "The Big Easy." This years' NACE Experience! is sure to elevate my time there by adding great education, trends of the industry from across the country and catching up with my NACE friends. Lastly, we have been working hard on our chapter awards and hope to bring at least one home!

| Happy May everyone, it's Daniel McGarrity, wild weather, sunny one day, cold and rainy the next, then sunny the next day, then it's back to the scarves and mittens. Well, this months special is geared towards all of those people you know who are feeling the same way about joining NACE, great idea today, can't make that fantastic meeting at the National Zoo (May 9th!!) the next, what was that you did with Josh Norris and Twitter? So Others Might Eat
Item of the Month for MAY is Coffee!
So Others Might Eat is best known for food; and, indeed, more than 1,000 meals are served each day in their dining room and other programs. Due to the high volume of breakfast and lunch meals, SOME goes through 60lbs of coffee per week! This is a small inexpensive item that we can donate as members to their organization. Over the months of April and May meetings we will be collecting 1lb. bags of regular and decaf coffee. This is a small way we as a Chapter can make a big impact to SOME!
Another way that you can get involved is through donating your time! Here is a schedule of dates and times that are available to go down and volunteer at SOME’s dinner room. If you are interested in volunteering please email me at kdownes@weparty.com

JOB TITLE: Dining Room Volunteer
GENERAL DUTIES: Volunteers will assist SOME staff in the following areas. (Please see list of responsibilities outlined below) Serving line Meal preparation Coffee attendant Dishwasher Children’s Clothing closet * Other duties as assigned**
TRAINING: Volunteers will be orientated on their initial day of service. Volunteers will also receive the appropriate on the job training.
