The Heart of The Capitol City

Washington, DC's monumental attractions stir the hearts of millions. Now the heart of the capital city is home to the Liaison Capitol Hill, An Affinia Hotel. Close to most everything people come to DC for, the Liaison is both a powerful connection to the nation's capital and a comfortable escape as well.

In the hotel restaurant Art and Soul, celebrity Chef Art Smith lovingly creates his award-winning Southern-modern "food for the soul." The restaurant and lobby lounge, ArtBar, provide a casually chic environment for business meetings and vibrant social occasions. Our seasonal rooftop pool and bar make another spectacular setting, with views that highlight the Liaison's central location between Union Station and the Capitol.

Kathryn Hamm, President of -- the leading online resource and boutique dedicated to serving same-sex couples since 1999 -- will share a few valuable tips to deepen your understanding of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgendered) wedding landscape and how to strengthen your company's wedding "gaydar" signals for those couples who are looking for gay-friendly vendors.

    About Kathryn Hamm:

Though most know Kathryn as one of the original "poster brides" of and as pioneer in the gay and lesbian wedding industry, she actually identifies most as an entrepreneur and educator.

Prior to joining her trailblazing straight mother in the business of helping couples to tie the knot, Kathryn engaged her undergraduate degree in Psychology (A.B., Princeton University) and a Masters in Social Work (MSW, Catholic University of America) to serve as a school counselor, coach and administrator in the Washington, D.C. area. She has also served as a caseworker in a homeless shelter for women and families and as a therapist at a school for emotionally disturbed children.

When she's not celebrating the unions of same sex couples and welcoming new allies into the celebration, she enjoys writing, cycling, and spending time with family and friends.
