Community Service

In conjunction with the final installment in our Mind, Body, and Soul series, we are pleased to announce the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Arts & Humanities Program as our October  community partner. Located on the campus of Georgetown University in Washington, DC, the Lombardi Center offers much more than patient treatment. It serves the medical community through cancer research, education and support services, as well.

Lombardi’s Arts & Humanities Program—open to patients, family members, and medical caregivers within the Lombardi community—emphasizes the importance of the arts in healthcare, offering a creative outlet for those coping with the effects of cancer. Through various methods of self expression (including writing, visual arts, music, and dance) participants create positive experiences within the context of illness.

Through your in-kind gifts brought to the October meeting at STROGA or through monetary donations at registration or the event, we hope to help promote the well-being of those within the Lombardi community. Sample items for donation may include the following:

Journals

Acrylic Paints

Primed Painting Canvases

Watercolor Paints and Paper

Artist’s Sketch Pads

Size 8 Knitting Needles

Knitting Yarn
